Since it’s release in September 2008 Android has been gaining a lot of fans. Today, it’s one of the most used operating systems in the world. Android has been also very popular among developers. It’s the most wanted OS today!
Just like any other operating system, there are a lot of versions of Android. The latest stable version of Android is Oreo. Android Oreo comes with many cool changes but even still, Android Nougat steals the show for May 2018. Every month, Google releases information about the respective market share of all Android versions and for this month, Android Nougat has topped the list.
Android Nougat is the most wanted Android version for May with a usage share of 31.1%. It beats Android Marshmallow by 5.6%, whose usage share is 25.5%.
Even though Android Marshmallow and Lollipop are a bit old, they still take the second and the third spots respectively on the list. Android Oreo, the latest version of Android, stands at the fifth spot with 5.7% usage share.
This data is released by Google so that the people who are currently developing apps for Android can optimize their apps for the widely used versions. One might naturally wonder about what makes Android Nougat so widely accepted. One of the reasons could be that it’s a big step ahead after Android Marshmellow, with a really sweet design. Another reason might be that the users are really comfortable with it and do not want to move on.
Actually Android Nougat is great for gaming, multitasking, graphical interface and even chatting. When it was released it came with a brand new set of emojis which created excitement among many people.
Whatever the reason be for its popularity but Android Nougat for sure is the hero for this month! Android app developers might now focus more on this version and orient their apps accordingly.
